7. Modern Art
The first batch of this fantastic new wave comp reissue by Domestica dropped in a beautifully packaged edition of 320 copies. The glory of this package is the heavy weight matte die-cut pink jacket, with printed inner sleeve which shows through the cut on both sides of the jacket. Hats off for taking on this design which could have only gone two ways – a sophisticated cut-out style artwork or something resembling an arts and craft day out for kids. Fortunately, they pulled it off to give music Gary Ramon edited during the Modern Art era (from approximately 1982 to 1989) from cassettes a stunning home and as expected the first wave sold out pretty rapidly. Fortunately a few months on, another batch of 320 was released, identical in design except the pink was swapped for blue and it looks just as good.
