Spiritual jazz collaborations and reworks.

Saxophonist Gary Bartz and collectiveMaisha are releasing a new collaborative album as part of Night Dreamer’s Direct to Disc Sessions series, this May.

Over the course of Bartz’ nearly seven decade career, alongside his prolific solo output, he has also collaborated with Art Blakey, Miles Davis and Max Roach.

Maisha is lead by Jake Long on drums, with Shirley Tetteh on guitar, Al MacSween on keys, Twm Dylan on bass, Axel Kaner-Lidstrom on trumpet and Tim Doyle on percussion.

The LP features reworkings of Bartz tracks ‘Uhuru Sasa’ and ‘Dr Follows Dance’, alongside three new compositions, which were recorded in a single day, and follows their performance at the inaugural edition of We Out Here festival.

It follows Night Dreamer’s second release, Seu Jorge & Rogê Night Dreamer Direct-To-Disc Sessions.
