I love me some old Murk productions and the ‘Deep Dub’ B-side is definitely my favourite mix. That is one horny bass line. What a groove! It will take you there. Steamy, dark, smokey basement vibes. This one is one to close your eyes and really feel. This is the definition of deep house to me. This is what I’m talking about! Vibes!
E.S.P. / Good Beat
Deee-Lite was huge for me as a teenager. E.S.P. / Good Beat is my favourite 12”. I loved their look, I loved their sound. Great production. And THAT VOICE!! Everything about it was so artistic and original. Lady Miss Kier is personally my club queen icon of all time. I still have pictures from when they played live in Hawaii. I was actually working at that club at the time. I have come to know Lady Miss Kier now, and she is such an amazing person. Thank you Aunty Kier for inspiring me!
Coco Steel And Lovebomb
This is one of my favourite house jams. I just think it’s super sexy. There are not even many elements in this track but it’s so damn effective. So deep and vibey. It’s sure to give some people goosebumps. That bass line is so hot, and that NYC Peech Boys sample is the best. This jam always made me go crazy on the dance floor. Classic!
Future Sound Of London
(Jumpin’ & Pumpin’, 1992)
I’m was a big FSOL fan and I’m proud of it. I’ve been told that it’s cheesy – are you kidding me? The entire Accelerator album is filled with gems from beginning to end. It’s so major. I used to have ‘Pulse State’ on repeat… it’s got acid, it’s hypnotic, pretty and moody. It’s the sound of a very important era, one that has influenced so many of us. It’s so well written and produced. Everything happens at the perfect time.
Pump Up The Jam
When ‘Pump Up The Jam’ came out it blew my mind. What a mega hit! The video also rules. I remember rewinding this cassette tape over and over again until it literally broke and I had to tape it back together. I love the energy of this song. It’s such a party.
