Icelandic artist enlists múm’s Kristin Anna and Kjartan Sveinsson for takeover at Berlin’s Volksbühne.

A gregarious showman with a taste for the theatrical, Icelandic artist and musician Ragnar Kjartnasson staged an evening of performances in Berlin last weekend to mark the launch of his Bel-Air Glamour label in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory, and the release of The Visitors soundtrack, taken from last year’s acclaimed mutli-screen installation of the same name.

A folk revue of sorts, Kjartnasson assembled the cream of Iceland’s music scene for an evening that included live music from Kjartansson and his All Star Band, iconic múm vocalist Kristin Anna – who will release her album HOWL through the label – and new songs composed by former Sigur Rós keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. There was also a performance of his own one-act punk opera Krieg (of which there are four forthcoming performances).
