Performance artist and dancer Cecilia Bengolea will perform at Palais De Tokyo in April, providing a glimpse of her forthcoming Equiknoxx-soundtracked The Store X The Vinyl Factory commission.

Headlining The Store X VF party at Palais De Tokyo’s Do Disturb festival in Paris, Bengolea will be joined by special guests Black Eagle and BG Dancers crews direct from Jamaica, with music from Kingston’s forward-thinking dancehall deconstructionists Equiknoxx and UK sound system The Heatwave.

Having explored the world of Japanese dancehall queen Bom Bom on a trip to Jamaica for Bom Bom’s Dream with Jeremy Deller at 2016’s Infinite Mix, Bengolea will draw on the music herself as part of this new work.

Set to be unveiled at The Store X in London later this year, the performance continues her fascination with the social and cultural anthropology of dance, which saw Bengolea get into French grime to inform a stunning floodlit performance on the slopes of the Alps as part of Elevation 1049 festival in 2017.

Dancehall takes place at Palais De Tokyo in Paris on 7th April as part of the gallery’s annual Do Disturb arts festival. Click here for tickets and check out the full line-up on the flyer below.
