In the third instalment of Charlie Dark’s weekly Wednesday afternoon show – Have Box Will Travel – the Run Dem Crew founder, community leader, activist, poet, DJ and Attica Blues member delves into his collection of over 7,000 45s.

Speaking about this week’s instalment he shares:

“Week three and due to popular demand we are staying on the island of Jamaica with another adventure through dancehall, dub and reggae gems. Some classic carnival selections with a Tiger obscurity thrown in for the diggers.

Listening to these tunes reminds me of my path from religiously listening to hip-hop to getting into jungle in the early ’90s, and this mix contains some of the tunes that got sampled by that genre. As I always say about this music: there is more to dancehall than ‘Ring The Alarm’ and ‘Murder She Wrote’. There are not many places where I get to play my dancehall 45’s these days so really enjoying the opportunity to share some of my collection with the people.”
