VF Live: Charlie Dark's Have Box Will Travel #11

“‘Message music’ and the tunes I go to when I need to hear something deeper on the daily soundtrack…”

In VF Live our favourite artists take you inside their homes and record shops, for intimate mixes and performances.

Charlie Dark returns for his weekly Wednesday afternoon show – Have Box Will Travel – which sees the Run Dem Crew founder, community leader, activist, poet, DJ and Attica Blues member selecting reggae, roots, soul and dancehall gems and rarities.

Watch and listen to the set above, find out more about it and check out the tracklist below.

Another delve through the 45s collection and this week I blow the dust off a box of records that rarely gets touched. A selection of what I call ‘message music’ and the tunes I go to when I need to hear something deeper on the daily soundtrack. When your collection grows out of control, the task is finding specific tracks that remain hidden no matter how many weeks you spend trying to locate them. Thankfully this box is now clearly labelled for future discovery. Enjoy the crackles and pops, some of these tunes haven’t seen the light of day in years.”
