Drone meets fuzzed-out electronics, electromagnetic interference, synth harmonies, noise, and “choral bliss.”
Kenyan sound artist KMRU and French musician Aho Ssan are releasing a new album, called Limen, via Subtext Recordings this April.
The LP took shape after KMRU and Aho Ssan were invited by Berlin Atonal to collaborate on a new project for the festival’s Metabolic Rift edition.
Aiming to “deconstruct history as it detonates around us,” Limen is thematically inspired by Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira and the myth of the phoenix.
Both producers were also interested in experimenting with volume and physicality, subsequently drawing on drone, fuzzed-out electronics, electromagnetic interference, noise, synth harmonies, and “choral bliss.”
Limen follows KMRU’s Logue — one of our favourite records of 2021.
