For Zudrangma Records’ latest set from its Bangkok HQ, label head, shop founder, DJ, and producer Maft Sai presents a Kollywood record special – exploring electronic and pop experimentalism from Southern India.

“I wanted to keep rolling with a different genre or concept every time for VF Live, not only just the Thai music that we’re known for. I think it’s more fun for listeners, and also more fun for me to dig into different genres than what I have in my collection too.

The reason that I picked Kollywood records for this set is because it’s the style that I don’t really get much chance to play out, due to the lo-fi recording on 7″s with speed 33rpm. But it works nicely for this. 😉

Music from Kollywood cinema – India’s second largest film industry – is so interesting. It’s a forward thinking, experimentation of electronic and pop sounds that emerged from Southern India.”
