“Going in hard with the uptempo dancehall bangers box…”
With quarantines and lockdowns due to the Coronavirus pandemic ongoing around the world, artists are finding new ways to connect with people worldwide.
In VF Live – our favourite collectors take you inside their homes and record shops, for intimate mixes and performances.
Charlie Dark returns for his weekly Wednesday afternoon show – Have Box Will Travel – which sees the Run Dem Crew founder, community leader, activist, poet, DJ and Attica Blues member delving into his mighty collection.
Watch and listen to the set above, find out more about the show and check out the tracklist below.
“Week 6 and we are going in hard with the uptempo dancehall bangers box, peak time tunes that I used to hear at the jams I used to rave at as a youngster. As always there are some big tunes, some obscurities and some rare gems to keep the collectors happy.
In the spirit of the classic sound system selectors I’ve tried to jam in as many tunes as possible to keep the energy up, juggling through a few of my favourite riddems from my collection.
If you are feeling what you are hearing and want to get deeper into this world check out the Deadly Dragon Record Shop in NYC and Sting International who has been dropping nightly vintage dancehall sets over on Instagram. Enjoy the vibes.”
