Having made her name with Andy Butler as Hercules & Love Affair, Kim Ann Foxman has struck out alone and has since formed a successful solo career built on her love for the sound and aesthetics of classic New York house music and culture. With new EP Creature out next month on her own imprint Firehouse Recordings, Foxman takes a moment to tell us why Grace Jones is ‘the last alien on Earth’.

Grace Jones is one the most important pop icons in music in the last century. To me, she really is the last alien on Earth. Her presence is beyond…she is a reference and inspiration for so many artists today. Nightclubbing is my favorite album. There are so many great hits on that album. ‘Walking in the Rain’ is my favorite track. It’s so slinky and sexy, and I love the organic feel of the track itself. She is also incredible live. She is an artist that truly owns that stage, she owns every step she takes, every movement, even the most subtle is so powerful. She is the real deal. She is and always will be one of the greatest rock stars all time.
