Moving through funk fusion and ambient electronics to ’80s slow jams.

French multi-instrumentalist Teddy Lasry is the subject of a new compilation, titled Funky Ghost 1975-1987, coming this November on Hot Mule.

Born in 1947, Lasry enjoyed a brief stint with Ariane Mnouchkine’s Théâtre du Soleil after graduating school, before later joining prog band Magma.

However, driven by a need to express himself through new — and often experimental — sounds, Lasry eventually embarked on a solo career.

Funky Ghost 1975-1987 collects his mid-’70s to late-’80s work, spanning funk fusion, ambient electronics, flute-led tracks, and slow jams.

It follows Hot Mule’s release of José Carlos Schwarz & Le Cobiana Djazz’ Lua Ki Di Nos album in April.
