An analogue tape loop set from his Tallinn studio.

With quarantines and lockdowns due to the Coronavirus pandemic ongoing around the world, artists are finding new ways to connect with people worldwide.

In VF Live – our favourite collectors take you inside their homes and record shops, for intimate mixes and performances.

For Muscut Records co-founder Nikolaienko’s first VF Live set, he plays versions of the three tracks from his forthcoming album Alone In The Labyrinth Of Echoes, as well as a making of video showing his process instruments and techniques, such as multichannel compositions of tape, and cassette loops with different durations.

Watch the set above and find out more about the performance below.

“The concept, in general, is to record the tracks by playing the tape loops, mixing up to 9 channels/loops at the same time (as a maximum) without a computer involved – the tracks are recorded to the master cassette.

This was recorded at the Labyrinth Of Echoes Studio in Tallinn, Estonia.”
