Re-released to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June.

‘God Save The Queen’ by Sex Pistols is the top selling vinyl single of 2022 so far, the Official Charts Company has revealed.

The track originally peaked at number two when it was first released in 1977, during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.

Over 40 years later, the single was re-released to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June.

Evidently the sentiment remains alive and well, with the record becoming the best selling vinyl single of 2022 so far, beating Taylor Swift’s ‘The Lakes’ and Suggs & Paul Weller ‘Ooh Do U Fink U R’.

Like the original 1970s release of the Pistols’ hit, the 2022 version was pressed at The Vinyl Factory’s plant in Hayes, which is still powered by the EMI 1400 Press.
