Across the three-part series Ash Lauryn sets out to explore the birth of techno in ’80s Detroit, charting the radical movements of the sound across time and space.

In doing so, she investigates how Berlin’s clubs were built, the importance of Kyiv’s club scene, and how a Georgian club became a headquarters for queer politics.

Lauryn also sets out to uncover techno’s relationship to various subcultures, questioning what makes it the soundtrack to so many different groups.

Guests include Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Honey Dijon, Nastia, Richie Hawtin and more.

Techno: A Social History will air on the 19th July at 11:30am.
