Discogs redesigns app to expand release information

A fresh update.

One of 2016’s biggest tech developments for record collectors has been the launch of the official app for Discogs, and yesterday (1 December), the online marketplace-database unveiled a crisp update for iOS.

As Engadget notes, the redesigned app now pulls across all of the Discogs database information associated with every artist or band – things like image galleries, band members, name variations, aliases. Related artists and releases are recommended so you can keep digging down the hole.

The updated artist pages tell you how many releases by that artist you own and there’s integrated social tools so you can share results with friends.

Label pages also now display more information including parent and sublabels. Like the artist view, you can also see how many releases from a given label you own.

In addition to these extras, the app’s original features include access to entire sales histories for releases, a bar code scanner and the ability to manage your collection and wantlist on the fly. Download the app for iOS and Android here.
