Explore the history of Pakistani cinema vinyl.

Recorded in Devon Turnbull’s Listening Room at The Vinyl Factory: Reverb exhibition, the second of Haseeb Iqbal’s summer listening sessions looks at the joyous, distinct world of Pakistani cinema vinyl.

As Iqbal notes, Pakistan was the fourth largest cinema producer of the 1970s. Much of this music is exclusively available on vinyl, meaning the format is the sole way of preserving this history. DJ, broadcaster and writer Haseeb uses his personal collection to grant a glimpse into this vast, overlooked soundtrack genre.

Haseeb returns to the Listening Room for two further sessions–a Jah Shaka special on August 28 and a Songs of Healing & Resistance session on September 4. All sessions are currently sold out. If you missed out, join the waiting list here.

The Vinyl Factory: Reverb runs until 28 September 2024  at 180 Studios. Book tickets online
