Released in conjunction with the Nick Cave biopic-come-drama 20,000 days on Earth (which is fantastic if you’re yet to see it), this 10” deals us the previously unheard ‘Give Us A Kiss’ and an epic version of ‘Jubilee Street’ live at the Sydney Opera House. Further reminder that last year’s Push The Sky Away was a highlight in Cave’s back catalogue and its ensuing live shows are quite the spectacle.

The Dark Entries Editions reissue program continues apace, belting out rough synth-pop, obscure hits from Antwerp’s Ancienne Belgique nightclub, and icy Italo Disco like Charlie’s Spacer Woman. Originally released in 1983, this is a classic of the genre: thin, stringy chords phased over an electro drum machine pattern, swaddling the megalithic bassline and creepily sexy vocal that form the focus of the song. Produced by Maurizio Cavalieri from Firefly and International Music System, with the vocals provided by his wife (removed on the flip for a killer instrumental mix). Packaged beautifully, featuring the silvered 7” cover art enlarged for the maxi-single.

The man like Billy Childish is back and is so punk rock he’s made a list of how punk rock he actually is (in case you’d forgotten how punk rock he was…) ‘Punk Rock Enough For Me’ is an absolute cracker that rattles along in typical Childish fashion. The flip has JuJu on vocals and sounds like a 1977 Alternative TV at their best. Limited edition. Brown vinyl.

Something a little bit special for Nick Drake fans this week as Bryter Music sneak a single-sided 7″ private pressing of ‘Cello Song’ into the racks at Rough Trade. Taken from his 1969 John Peel session to flag up the forthcoming companion to all Nick Drake’s recordings Remembered For A While, the 7″ comes with liner notes from Pete Paphides, who once told us he owned more copies of Five Leaves Left (from which ‘Cello Song’ is taken) than any other single record. Judging by how swiftly and obsessively all Nick Drake material gets snaffled up, you can be pretty sure this 500-run limited edition won’t hang about long. (In fact we’ve already spied one on eBay for over four times retail price…)

International Feel continue their unblemished journey through the sea and sand of the modern Balearic landscape with this latest 12″ from label head Mark Barrot and Running Back’s Gerd Janson under their new Talamanca System moniker. As loon bird calls fill the air, the duo open a portal back to the formative years of house music with immersive pads and a buoyant bassline conjuring faded memories of Italian house classics, Dream 2 Science cuts and lost Nu Groove records. Alongside the original mix, we’re treated to an insistent acid rework, a classic piano house version from Janson and Lauer as Tuff City Kids and a horizontal flashback to those Art Of Noise and Grid records which provided the perfect soundtrack to the morning after the night before.
