Written by Dan Charnas, Dilla Time is described as “equal parts biography, musicology, and cultural history.”

Focusing on his impact on 21st century music, the book explores his innovative use of samples and drum machines.

“Dilla’s beats, startling some people with their seeming ‘sloppiness’, were actually the work of a perfectionist almost spiritually devoted to his music,” explains the publisher.

Dilla Time features interviews with over 150 of J Dilla’s collaborators, friends, family, charting the course of his life.
