A black edition is also coming.

Technics has announced today that its new “standard” SL1200GR turntable will hit the market at £1,299.

The price is slightly lower than previous expectations of a £1,500 tag, and significantly lower than the contentious SL-1200G model, which retailed for £2799 when it launched last year.

Technics also took the moment to unveil the Grand Class SL-1210GR, an accompanying black edition of the model. Have a closer look in the gallery below:

“The SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR combine the best of both worlds,” says Michiko Ogawa, Director Technics at Panasonic. “We are sure both models will fulfill the expectations of Technics fans around the globe. Our objective was to extend our top range for audio enthusiasts as well as professional DJs.”

Technics promises that both the SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR models make no compromise on sound quality whilst providing all the features that made its original predecessor a hit with DJs, like durability, shock resistance, reliable direct drive and adjustable rotation speed.

A question mark remains over whether DJs will splash out four digits to upgrade their old 1200s.
