Offering a glimpse into Spain’s ’80s-’90s underground music scenes.

Soundway Records is releasing a new compilation, called Ritmo Fantasía: Balearic Spanish Synth-Pop, Boogie and House (1982-1992), this November.

Curated by producer, DJ, and record collector Trujillo, the 21-track compilation spans early bleep, hip-house, electro, boogie, Iberian pop and beyond.

The majority of tracks on the compilation feature lesser-known and under-the-radar artists, who often self-released their records or released on short-lived, local labels.

“The recordings gathered on this compilation, mostly, represent the Spanish underground,” shares Trujillo. “The selections are a sonic snapshot of a period when creativity bubbled.”

Ritmo Fantasía follows Soundway’s release of Reuben Vaun Smith’s Sounds From The Workshop album, in August.
