Showcasing the music of composer Kiyoshi Yamaya, koto player Toshiko Yonekawa, and shakuhachi master Kifu Mitsuhashi.
180g is releasing a new compilation, titled Wamono Groove: Shakuhachi & Koto Jazz Funk ’76, this January.
The compilation focuses on the output of arranger Kiyoshi Yamaya, koto player Toshiko Yonekawa and shakuhachi master Kifu Mitsuhashi.
Encompassing their mid-seventies jazz funk and rare groove musings, all the tracks were recorded at the Nippon Columbia studios.
Wamono Groove: Shakuhachi & Koto Jazz Funk ’76 follows the label’s WAMONO A to Z Vol. III – Japanese Light Mellow Funk, Disco & Boogie 1978-1988 compilation, in October.
