“To commemorate and tombstone 25 years of this intermittently-awake recording project, we made this chunk. It’s a 10-pounder…”
Phil Elverum is releasing an expansive and comprehensive box set of his Microphones project, titled Completely Everything, 1996–2021, in February.
Speaking to Sonos Radio Hour, Elverum revealed he has spent the past year organising the Microphones’ entire discography for the box set.
Completely Everything, 1996–2021 includes all seven Microphones albums, alongside 74 GB of downloads – spanning live recordings, unreleased outtakes, and rare tracks.
It also includes a 107-page booklet of previously unpublished photos, notebook extracts, and artwork.
Notably, it seems this release will mark the end of his Microphones project. Elverum shares: “this is final. To commemorate and tombstone 25 years of this intermittently-awake recording project, we made this chunk. It’s a 10-pounder, lift with your legs.”
Completely Everything, 1996–2021 follows the Microphones vinyl-only album of “100% background noise”, Foghorn Tape.
