“Fela Kuti-meets-Kraftwerk-on-the-dancefloor”

Zazou // Bikaye // CY1’s seminal 1983 album Noir Et Blanc is being reissued on vinyl by Crammed Discs for the first time since its release.

Listen next: A fascinating podcast on the boom in African reissues

A collaboration between French composer Hector Zazou, Congolese musician Bony Bikaye and composers CY1, as well as contributions from sound engineer Gilles Martin, Marc Hollander (Aksak Maboul) and Vincent Kenis (creator/producer of the Congotronics series), the LP was one of the first albums to fuse African music with electronic sounds.

The Noir Et Blanc reissue also comes with a booklet containing “new contributions by the participants, and previously un-released bonuses”.

Pre-order a copy here, and listen to album track ‘Lamuka’ below.
