“We don’t want more unaffordable flats. We want somewhere to dance…”

Jim Ottewill has published a new book exploring the impact of UK cities on rave culture, called Out Of Space: How UK Cities Shaped Rave Culture, with Velocity Press.

Journeying from Glasgow to Margate via Manchester and Sheffield, Out of Space explores how crucial cities allowed electronic music and club culture to thrive.

In doing so, Ottewill offers a larger examination into the relationship between club culture and cities, as well as looking to what may come next.

“Rather than an epitaph, this is a rallying cry and celebration of the club’s resilience based on a lifetime of getting wide-eyed inside them,” shares the publisher.
