The Champs and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard get a Cumbian makeover.

Los Bitchos have shared the details for their upcoming 7″ EP, PAH!, due mid-March via City Slang.

The EP features covers of The Champ’s “Tequila”, which has become a live set favourite for the group, and an instrumental rework of King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard’s “Trapdoor”, who they’ll be touring alongside throughout March.

PAH! follows on from the group’s 2022 debut album, Let The Festivities Begin!, which brought together Cumbia, Turkish Anatolian rock and surf-psych. It featured singles “Good To Go”, “The Link Is About To Die” and “Pista (Fresh Start)”.

Catch the video for “Tequila” below, filmed by Los Bitchos and Lea Emmery.

Speaking about the release, Los Bitchos said: “We love King Gizzard and “Trapdoor” was a song of theirs that stood out for a cover choice. It was that repetitive hook of “Trapdoor, trapdoor, trapdoor” that we found so compelling and trippy. It also translates great to a guitar hook! Our version starts off feeling like a hazy summer’s day and escalates in a frantic tempo change that suggests all is not what it seems and trouble could be brewing… Hehe…”

“”Tequila” has been the joyfully unhinged ending to our set for the past year. It always feels like it could fall apart at any moment and we wanted to capture that energy on the recording.”

PAH! is available for  pre-order on black vinyl now, ahead of its mid-March release.
