Founded in 1992 by Kerri Chandler and Dublin music entrepreneur Mel Medalie, Madhouse Records served as a platform for many of Chandler’s releases alongside more obscure house outfits. Its first release was Chandler’s A Basement, A Red Light and A Feeling.

Over the years, Madhouse put out records by Roy Ayers, Jerome Sydenham, Dennis Ferrer and more.

A statement on the label’s website reads:

“Legendary House Music label Madhouse Records, which was formed in 1992 by New York House DJ Kerri Chandler, and Dublin born music industry entrepreneur Mel Medalie, is to cease trading.”

“Madhouse Records, under Mel’s Champion Records umbrella, has enjoyed huge success over the years since the duo joined forces. Madhouse Records’ first release was Kerri’s album ‘A Basement, A Red Light and A Feeling’, which was a driving force behind the label, with the single ‘I Got That Feeling’ (Dreamer G) being licensed to Atlantic Records.”

““We are of course sad to see Madhouse Records come to an end after an incredible 31 years, however all good things come to an end. Both Kerri and Champion have exciting new projects in the pipeline, and it just seemed the right time to bring the label to a close”. – Raj Porter, Champion Records”

“Kerri shall move all his productions across to his Kaoz Theory label, whilst the remaining Madhouse Records catalogue shall now sit on Champion Records.”
