Purists, look away now.
While the return of Technics SL-1200 may have cast a shadow across all other turntable news at CES last week, the prize for the loudest on show definitely goes to Ion. And we’re not talking about volume.
Early adopters of USB technology, Ion have followed up their bluetooth turntable last year (and this remarkable portable vinyl/tape player) with a pair of ostentatious new decks that come with their own built-in light shows.
The Photon boasts a garish array of colourful lights beneath its platter that shine through the clear plinth and respond to the beat of the music, potentially a bit like integrating a Windows Media Player visual equaliser into your deck.
Even more sophisticated, the lighted base on the Spectra comes with a remote control allowing you to mix the colours to reflect the feel of the music like a true bedroom VJ. [via Yahoo]
