Released in 1989, Omni Sight Seeing fused ’80s electronic pop with notes of Japanese Min’yō, Algerian rai, American jazz, and what Hosono termed extraterrestrial ‘ether music’.

Medicine Compilation from the Quiet Lodge was originally released in 1993, and saw Hosono diving into soothing ambient with meditative percussion.

Alongside Omni Sight Seeing and Medicine Compilation from the Quiet Lodge, Great Tracks / Sony Japan also reissued Hosono, Takahiko Ishikawa and Masataka Matsutoy’s 1979 album The Aegean Sea, earlier this year.
