Mental health charity Safaplace has enlisted Gilles Peterson is to curate a pop-up record and bookstore, Look Up, in Stoke Newington this September.

Taking place at Stoke Newington’s Edwards Lane Gallery, the week-long event will open space to explore the positive connection between mental health and the arts, raising money for the charity in the process.

Safaplace is an emerging charity that aims to support the positive mental health and wellbeing of students in Stoke Newington School and the wider community.

Look Up will feature a line-up of talks including iconic UK artist Goldie, Mo’Wax founder James Lavelle, Classic Album Sundays’ Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and former Hacienda resident Dave Haslam.

There will also be performances from UK vocalists Jordan Rakai, Yazmin Lacey and Aaron Unknown at The Old Church in Stoke Newington, with Daphni and HAAi lined up for the closing party at Five Miles in Tottenham on 4th October.
