Featuring covers of John Coltrane, Steve Kuhn, and Minnie Riperton songs.

The George Otsuka Quintet’s live album Loving You George is being reissued, via Wewantsounds this March.

Inspired by fusion and modal jazz sounds of the 1970s, Otsuka formed his own quintet with Mitsuaki Furuno on bass, Norio Ohno on percusion, Shozo Sasaki on sax, and Fumio Karashima on piano.

Loving You George captures the quintet’s performance at the Nemu Jazz Inn during 1975, and features covers of tunes by Steve Kuhn, John Coltrane, and Minnie Riperton, as well as an original Karashima composition.

Wewantsounds release of Loving You George marks the album’s first vinyl reissue since its release on Bellwood Records in 1975.

It follows the label’s release of Fairuz’s Maarifti Feek album — one of our favourite records from 2020.
