Amoeba’s time at its iconic Hollywood location was coming to an end, with a move planned later this year.

While all three of Amoeba’s physical outposts remain closed, the shop is still operating online, and plans to update its website with more second-hand and collectible offerings.

“The only thing we do know for certain is that we intend to survive. … The only way we can keep Amoeba Hollywood alive in the future is to make this difficult decision now,” shares Amoeba.

In the wake of its sudden closure, Amoeba is now focusing its efforts on the launch of the new 6200 Hollywood Blvd location, which it plans to open in the fall.

The news follows Amoeba’s launch of a crowdfunding campaign to support its three shops through the Coronavirus pandemic.
