“On an acid trip around Afro rhythms, travelling from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Congo to Ghana, cruising on electronic sounds, cosmic rhythmics and psychedelic vibrations.”

African Acid Is The Future returns to Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin this weekend for another instalment of the Afro-centric international dance party.

The party will see AAITF residents Maryama (Maryisonacid), Romain (Wolfonacid) and Dauwd Al Hilali joined by Stella Chiweshe, the musician once called “the mbira queen of Zimbabwe’, Niger avant-rock duo Les Filles de Illighadad – who released the brilliant Eghass Malan LP last year – and Edmony Krater and Zepiss, who were behind the 1988 gwo ka jazz fusion masterpiece Ti Jan Pou Velo.

As Maryama described in an interview with VF last year, the trajectory of the party has been one of organic growth: “Starting as a relatively straightforward gathering in one of Berlin’s many nightclubs, AAITF’s psychedelic seances soon gained notoriety within the city as the go to place for an extended alternative dance party with a flair for African sonorities.”

African Acid Is The Future takes place at Festsaal Kreuzberg on Saturday 30th June. Click here for information and here to buy tickets.
