The East Village shop gets its own capsule.

Much-loved NYC record shop A-1 has teamed up with fashion label Bianca Chandôn for a new collection of t-shirts, hoodies and caps.

Drawing on iconic label and release artwork, the screen-printed and embroidered capsule is a bit of a spotters guide for deep diggers, with House of Whacks’ 1997 12″ ‘Ghetto Music / Overview’ just one of the records lending artwork to series.

Featured in our rundown of the world’s best record shops, A-1 boasted regular customers like DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Lord Finesse of D.I.T.C., and legendary New York DJ Tony Touch, many of whom are immortalised on Polaroids in the shop.

As we wrote at the time, “Now, the shop also caters to a growing crowd of house and disco DJs and collectors, aided in no small part by having had the likes of Ron Morelli of L.I.E.S., Eric Duncan, Thomas Bullock, Daniel Wang work behind the counter.” David Mancuso was also known to do the odd shift at A-1.
