Modern city pop direct from Aloha Got Soul.
For the first instalment of our new VF Live X Aloha Got Soul series, DJ Notoya leads a journey through modern Japanese city pop, straight from the AGS store in Honolulu.
DJ Notoya first brought Tokyo’s modern funk sound to the world with his 2011 mix, Tokyo 1980s. His love affair with Japanese boogie continues with the series, including an official mix CD licensed from Victor Japan, and a recent compilation with Wewantsounds, Tokyo Glow.
He can be found in Tokyo digging through the city’s countless record shops, and online offering curated selections of Japanese city pop, funk and boogie through his store Tokyo Condition.
