Our sixth Deep Listening features the soundtrack to Gabriel Moses’ short film Ijó.
Deep Listening is a new series in which The Vinyl Factory spins monumental albums and songs, both contemporary and classic, in the Devon Turnbull Listening Room at The Vinyl Factory: Reverb Exhibition in 180 Studios.
A meditative listening room created by New York artist Devon Turnbull and programmed by The Vinyl Factory, the space allows visitors to listen to music on a handmade, high-fidelity sound system. Its plush, minimalist interiors have enthralled visitors to The Vinyl Factory: Reverb exhibition and played host to events with The Blessed Madonna, Stephen O’Malley, and many more.
To celebrate the upcoming opening of Gabriel Moses’ new exhibition, SELAH, at 180 Studios, for this Deep Listening session, we’ve been spinning the soundtrack from his film Ijó.
Commissioned by 180 Studios, Ijó follows a group of young ballet dancers in Lagos, Nigeria, exploring themes of movement, identity, and cultural expression. The original score, composed by James Williams Blades adds rich emotional depth to the film‘s striking visuals.
Released by The Vinyl Factory, this limited edition 180-gram vinyl features an etched B-side and gold-foiled gatefold sleeve, with just 300 copies produced—each hand-signed and numbered by Gabriel Moses.
SELAH, the largest-ever exhibition of Gabriel Moses’ work, opens this Friday 28 March at 180 Studios, showcasing over 70 photographs and 10 films spanning fashion, music, and sport—including a major new film premiere.
