“Vinyl has always been an important part of grime history,” says Logan Sama.

Mixed down by veteran grime DJ Logan Sama, Fabriclive 83 is a special release – it’s the first time a Fabric or Fabriclive series release has been pressed to vinyl.

Spread across quadruple vinyl, the weighty edition features a selection of 24 instrumentals by over 60 MCs including Wiley, JME, Novelist, D Double E and Ghetts. The release is one of Sama’s most ambitious projects to date: a mix stitched together from original vocals and beats, recreating a live set “in the studio.”

“Vinyl has always been an important part of grime history. It gave us the power to get our music out to the public without having to be tied in to the mainstream music industry. Being able to make our own music and then press it up directly onto vinyl was so pivotal to the growth of grime for many reasons,” Sama says.

“When I was a teenager growing up and getting into DJ’ing something like this would have been exactly what I wanted, it’s great to be able to give people a package like this.”

A landmark edition for the iconic London nightclub, we picked up a copy and snapped it from all ends. Take a gander below!
