Remembering The Rolling Stones drummer’s legacy.

In 2006, The Rolling Stones performed at NYC’s Beacon Theatre as part of their A Bigger Bang tour.

The performance was captured by Martin Scorsese for his 2008 film Shine A Light, keeping one camera on Watts throughout the entire show.

In a change from The Rolling Stones’ usual presentation, Watts — who generally shied away from the limelight — was front and centre.

Watts performed with The Rolling Stones in every one of the band’s live shows since he joined the group in 1963, and appeared on all of their studio albums.

He died on the 24th August, following undisclosed medical issues reported during the summer.
