Universal raid their roster for twelve new vinyl releases.

Universal have announced they will be releasing new records from a number of their acts in a “12 days of Christmas” ruse that will see the likes of The Beatles, The Who and St Vincent sell records exclusively through the UK’s independent record stores over the first twelve days of December.

The releases include 7″ versions of The Beatles’ ‘Long Tall Sally’ and The Who’s ‘Be Lucky’, a 12″ of Metallica’s ‘Lords Of Summer’ and a special 10″ edition of St Vincent’s ‘Pieta’, as well as material from Weezer, Bon Jovi, Wings, Imagine Dragons, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Tim Hardin and Shirley Collins & Davy Graham.

Speaking about the initiative, the managing director of Universal’s commercial UK division spoke of the company’s good will towards independent record shops. “At a time of the year when many retailers are focused on high volume Christmas releases we thought it was important to do something special for the indie stores who are important to us 52 weeks a year.” [via NME]
