Squid have shared details for their upcoming album, O Monolith, due for release on June 9 via Warp Records.

O Monolith was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Wiltshire, “among lots of green space, just as spring was setting in”.

The follow-up to their 2021 debut album Bright Green Field was mixed by Tortoise’s John McEntire and sees Speedy Wunderground’s Dan Carey return as producer. It also features Roger Bolton and Martha Skye Murphy who previously collaborated on 2021 single “Narrator”.

Speaking about the new single, drummer and singer Ollie Judge says: “This was inspired by a dream I had about a painting called The Swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard. In my dream I was in the painting but it was flooded and everything was floating away.”

You can pre-order O Monolith on black or transparent blue vinyl now, ahead of its June 9 release.
