Drawing on Indian rhythmic compositions alongside spiritual folk influences.

Tabla player Sandeep Das and cellist Mike Block are releasing a new album, titled Where The Soul Never Dies, via Bright Shiny Things this June.

The album draws on Indian rhythmic compositions in traditional cycles including Teentaal, Rupak, and Ektaal, folk, and spiritual sonics.

“We did not have an existing musical prescription to follow with our music, and that allowed us to follow our hearts and minds as we brought our two instruments together as conversing soloists,” they share.

Where The Soul Never Dies follows the label’s release of Imani Winds’ Bruits album, in February.
