Pixies have announced new album Head Carrier, the first single from it, and a new band member.

Since reforming in 2004, the band have released a series of EPs and amalgamated these into the Indie Cindy album in 2014, their first full-length since 1991’s Trompe le Monde.

“This was a wonderful luxury, for us to have the time to be able to really work these new songs out,” said Pixies drummer David Lovering. “By the time we started recording, we all knew the songs backwards and forwards, so it took half as long for us to make this album as it did to make Indie Cindy.”

The band have also officially recruited Paz Lenchantin as the bassist to their permanent line-up. Lenchantin had been the band’s touring bassist since 2014.

Due on 30 September, Head Carrier is being released as a deluxe box se featuring the CD, vinyl and a 24-page lyrics booklet and artwork by regular Pixies designer Vaughan Oliver. There’s also a second deluxe edition with the box-set, a unique T-shirt and a 12”x12” poster of the artwork, which you can view below.
