“Haunting electronic melodies and frisky dance rhythms.”

Multi-disciplinary artist Mira Calix is releasing a new album on Warp Records, called absent origin, this November.

“Like Duchamp, I had started out wanting to “make an album, or box, of approximately all the things I produced.” In the end, I realised: as much as a collage is the coupling of two or more realities, it also offers the means to examine the materials and culture of an era, questioning and expanding its borders.” Mira Calix

Its music incorporates: “pulsating baselines, haunting electronic sounds, and orchestrated melodies.”

Ahead of the album’s release, Calix has shared a video for its first single, ‘there is always a girl with a secret’, which you can watch in full above.
