Loraine James has announced a new album.

Gentle Confrontation drops via Hyperdub this September and is James’ fourth album since her debut, Detail, back in 2018. The album features contributions from Marina Herlop, keiyaA and George Riley and takes influence from “math rock and emo-electronic such as DNTEL, Lusine, and Telefon Tel Aviv”.

Hear the lead single, “2003”, below.

A press statement shares that the title of “2003” draws from the year that James’ father passed away. The single introduces the album’s central themes of “relationships (especially familial), understanding, and giving back a little grace and care.”

Gentle Confrontation is available on black or pink vinyl on September 22. It can be pre-ordered now.
