Stranger Peaks.
Stranger Things might evoke the incredible ’80s filmmaking of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Wes Craven, John Carpenter and Ridley Scott, but there’s also a touch of David Lynch and Twin Peaks in there with the final episode. (We won’t spoilt it for you.)
The similarities don’t stop there either: both are set small towns, involve missing kids and alternate dimensions. And they both have cracking soundtracks.
Twin Peaks‘ recently reissued soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti is the best TV music we’ve ever heard, but Austin band SURVIVE’s score for Stranger Things – also out on vinyl – isn’t far behind.
Now, as i-d has spotted, you can find out what the show’s themes sound like together with this genius mash-up by the band Prom Queen. The three minute track shoots the misty ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ into Stranger Things’ ominous synth-wave universe to dazzling effect. The best thing you’ll hear all day:
