Using data from air pollution monitoring stations, syllables, and the sound of wind.

John Talabot and Maria Arnal have released their collaborative soundtrack for the Venice Biennale Of Architecture’s air/aria/aire exhibition, titled AIR, via Hivern Discs sub-label AIRE.

The 12-minute piece explores the need to protect clean air, framing this within the context of global warming and air pollution in major cities.

For the soundtrack, Talabot and Arnal used data generated by Barcelona’s air pollution monitoring stations, plus the sounds of breathing, voices, syllables, whispers and the wind.

Alongside the vinyl release, AIR can be experienced at the Catalan pavilion at the Biennale Architettura, from the 22nd May through till the 21st November.
