A never-before-heard performance by John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy is being released on vinyl on July 14 via Impulse! Records/UMe.

Evenings At The Village Gate: John Coltrane With Eric Dolphy was captured at the Village Gate in the summer of 1961. On the recording, the pair are accompanied by a group of musicians including McCoy Tyner, Reggie Workman and Elvin Jones.

Recently uncovered at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, the recordings were lost, rediscovered, and once again lost in the vast archive of the library.

The release is available to pre-order on black or orange vinyl and is accompanied by essays by Workman, recording engineer Rich Alderson, historian Ashley Kahn and jazz luminaries Branford Marsalis and Lakecia Benjamin.
