Jayda G has announced her new album Guy, out on June 9 via Ninja Tune.

The follow-up to 2019’s Significant Changes and 2021’s DJ-Kicks: Jayda G sees the producer and DJ co-producing with Jack Peñate alongside contributions from Ibeyi’s Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Ed Thomas.

Hear the first single, “Circle Back Around” below.

Guy features archival recordings of Jayda G’s late father throughout the release. It also pays tribute to the artist’s grandmother.

“I wanted the album to be a blend of storytelling, about the African American experience, death, grief, and understanding,” explains Jayda G. “It’s about my dad and his story, and naturally in part my story, too, but it’s also about so many people who wanted more for themselves and went on a search to find that. This album is just so much for people who have been oppressed and who have not had easy lives.”

You can pre-order a regular or signed vinyl edition of Guy now.
