All profits will go to UK charity Samaritans.

Bristol band Idles are to auction 18 pieces of original album artwork this December to raise money for Samaritans.

Inspired by the band’s 2018 album Joy As An Act Of Resistance, the works featured in exhibitions in London, Paris and New York, with each piece corresponding to a poem and track on the album. It includes Nigel Talbot’s ‘Colossus’, which appears on the cover of the album’s deluxe vinyl edition.

Made either in collaboration with Joe Talbot, or individually by the artists themselves, each of the eighteen pieces are available to explore online, emphasising the nature of community the album espouses:

“This album is an attempt to be vulnerable to our audience, to encourage vulnerability; a mere brave naked smile in this shitty new world. We have stripped back the songs and the lyrics to our bare flesh to allow each other to breathe and to celebrate our differences and act as an ode to communities and the individuals that forge them because without our community, we’d be nothing.”

Ranging from prints of the album artwork to sculptures and graphic works, the pieces will go up for auction online from 7th – 9th December, with bids starting at £100-£500. Click here to find out more, and see some images of the work below.
