The Store X co-commissioned video is part of Steyerl’s new Serpentine exhibition.

Artist, film-maker and theorist Hito Steyerl will present a new exhibition at Serpentine’s Sackler Gallery in London this April.

As part of the exhibition, Steyerl will present a new film installation called Power Plants, which has been co-commissioned by The Store X, and features a VF-produced soundtrack by UK musician Kojey Radical. The soundtrack will also be released on vinyl by The Vinyl Factory in April.

The film itself uses AI to generate images of plants to create a series of visual sculptures that can look into the future, using the surrounding park as a visual reference point throughout.

An artist whose practice investigates the cross-sections of technology and power, Steyerl will invite visitors to explore social inequality and wealth distribution in local communities and across Europe via an augmented reality app.

Finally, the exhibition will feature a number of Power Walks, working with a range of research partners to present guided neighbourhood walks aimed at bringing the data used in Steyerl’s augmented reality app to life, highlighting issues around social housing, low wage work and the accessibility of the city.

The exhibition runs from 11th April – 6th May 2019. Click here for more information.
